Whoever takes part in the Mitzvah of Shmita through Machon V’shata Ha’aretz
Keep Shmita Behiddur
And save land from desecration of Shmita
Now is your chance to join the powerful venture created by the great rabbanim of Eretz Yisrael – allowing each and every Jew to fulfill the mitzvah of shmita in a proper manner, plus helping save several hectares of land throughout the country from desecration during the year of shemita!
By participating in this mitzvah, we will be purchasing land for you in Eretz Israel for the year of shemitah, thus preventing the land from being worked!
And you are considered a part of what the torah says about people who keep the shemita year holy. Heroes of the Shmita Guard! And in the immense blessing — “and I will order my blessing”
The process of buying the land and selling it to all the partners is done under the close supervision of the Av Beit Din of Mamonot “Ahavat Shalom”, the Dayan Hagaon Rabbi Avraham Ben Chaim Shlit’a
The Ar’i Hakadosh wrote in his book “Sefer Hagilgulim” (Hakdama,11), that a person who does not fulfil a particular mitzvah, such as the mitzvah of the shemitah, although he does not have the obligation to observe it, he will have come back to this world again (gilgul) to fulfill the mitzvah that remains for him to do.
Rabbeinu Har’i Ziya’a
“And I reasoned with myself, and I thought in my heart, I am obliged to observe more of them [the commandment of the shemita], and even to sell the tunic from my back [the garment on my shoulder], for Hashem will tell me, Why did you come from a place where you were exempt from it? And you came to a place where you are obligate, and now in the place you are obligated you will leave this mitzvah”. (why did you come to desecrate my land)? (Shaar Haotiot).
Rabbeinu Hashlah HaKadosh Zia’a
And Hashem will give us a pure and holy spirit in the hearts of all people of Israel to fulfill the mitzvah of shemita correctly and in accordance with the law, and thanks to the mitzvah of shemita mitzvah mashiach the final redemption will come (mashiach) as the Gemara in Sanhedrin says (93 A.) “At the end of the year of shmitah the mashiach will arrive” and the Chazon Ish explains that if we take care of the seventh year as it should be then at the end of the seventh year we will be redeemed. (Derech Emuna).
Words from Maran Sar Hatorah, Rabbi Chaim Kanevsky Shlita
And behold, I have bought a small land near Jerusalem, I have acquired it according to the law of the torah for myself and for all the children of Israel that are scattered around the world, in order to fulfil the mitzvah of shemitah as the torah asks “and the earth will rest a sabbatical year etc …”
(Hashmita kuntres).
Rabbeinu Haridvaz Zi’a
Definitely yes! The of shemita must be performed by every Jew for two reasons:
1. According to the Kabbalah, if a person lacks one of the 613 mitzvoth of the torah (except for the mitzvoth that have to do with the Beth Hamikdash), his soul yearns the mitzvoth , and he will return to this world again to fulfill the same mitzvah that he did not fulfill
2. According to many poskim, a person has to put in a lot of effort to fulfill each mitzvah even if it is not mandatory.
Women also belong to the mitzvah of shemita and preferably, they must fulfill this mitzvah in the same way that men do.
No, tenants do not fulfill the mitzvah, only those who buy the land in full
The sages have taught us that the commandment of the shemita should be observed first on land cultivated in the sixth year, and not on abandoned land.
The institute of “Veshavta Ha’aretz” saves agricultural land, land that had it not been purchased by you, would have been worked on in the sevenths year. Therefore, the purchase through the institute will sell you their land preventing them from working the land, thus they will perform the mitzvah of shemita properly, and they will obtain abundance of blessings promised to the jews who perform this mitzvah.
Furthermore, you will be able to save the earth from labor in the year of the shemita, thus bringing closer our redemption!
The sages wrote that the mitzvah of shemita can be observed by a shliach (messenger), and it customary to name a messenger from the Holy Land even in other mitzvoth that apply to the land, to observe the mitzvah for those whom these mitzvoth are not available.
In the best possible way, according to Halacha, it is better to advance the purchase of the land some time before the year of the shemita, in order to fulfill the mitzvah “you will be abandoned and forsaken,” that there is interest in cultivating the land before the shemita .
According to the directives of the rabbis, land can be bought with tithes.
We are farmers, and when I grow I guard the Land of Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel is not only mine, I guard it and in Shmita I forsake it, and I think it is everyone’s right to forsake it.
This is our problem personally, I actually forsake the land! And in Shmita it becomes property of all the people of Israel

Shalom Uvracha, we wanted to talk to you and hear from you firsthand about your difficulty in keeping the Shmita, to hear why you are really called heroes?
Shalom Uvracha, my name is Shabtai Mizrahi, I am a farmer from moshav Revacha, and together with my brother I grow over 4300 dunams every year.
Now in the Shmita year I stop cultivating the land completely. And I have no income from any source. Me and my employees stay home for a whole year with no source of livelihood.
And I do not know how we will make a living,
If my employees go looking for other work, will they not come back to me? what will I do?

Good question, I wish it was over with that! The fact that I’m forsaking the land, it’s chasing away over fifty percent of my customers to buy from those who do not keep Shmita, and you go to look for customers to get to where you were before Shmita.
And even before I think about after the year of the Shmita … what will I do now this year …
Is forsaking the land just preventing profit? Or are there other direct losses as well?
You see, I and all the other farmers I represent do not want to make money in the Shmita year, we just want to make a living this year, enough to live, we are taking very big losses this year just from the depreciation of the machines.
How can we ask for help from Jews who are far from the village towns, from agricultural fields, what do you have to say to them?
I want to say to all the Jews in the country and in the world, I was born in a moshav, my father came to Eretz Yisrael and when he came he said that we should kiss the land first!
We are farmers, and when I grow I guard the Land of Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel is not only mine, I guard it and in Shmita I forsake it, and I think it is everyone’s right to forsake it.

I think everyone who hears me should give a hand and help and then everyone will be partners and help and also, they will have a part in keeping the Shmita.
